In Jail

In Jail

One of the biggest parts of the recovery was keeping Zero relatively calm. We bought him a nice kennel that he still calls home to this day. He did pretty well adjusting to it.

Even though Zero could bear weight immediately after surgery, he was very restricted in terms of going down stairs or moving around on tile floors. We had to use a towel to help support him as we moved him in and out of the house.

The vet put Zero in a soft, kennel safe collar to keep him from licking his wound. You can see how swollen his leg was just a few days after surgery. His wound was bleeding a few days after surgery, so we had to keep him on a towel to keep our rugs from getting too gnarly.

Zero got a pain patch the night before his surgery. They shaved him up really well and made his leg look like a turkey.

This photo from Zero's first surgery shows the extent of the wound from a few days after the operation. He had quite a bit of bruising, bleeding and swelling. You have to be thick skinned to go down this path.
